The genus Hyalopterus is a small genus with eight species known worldwide and these aphids alternate between reeds and Prunus spp. as primary and secondary hosts depending on the season. Hyalopterus species are known to cause damage to fruit trees of the genus Prunus, which include economically important crops such as apricots, peaches and plums. In South Korea, only one species, Hyalopterus pruni Koch, 1854, had been previously recorded. During surveys conducted in 2022, we collected specimens of a newly recorded species, Hyalopterus arundiniformis Ghulamullah, 1942, from Prunus armeniaca L. (Rosaceae) in Gunsan. Here, we report Hyalopterus arundiniformis as a new record for South Korea and provide its morphological description and illustrations.
